Objectives

The LMQ Level 4 Advanced National Certificate in Information Technology programme is designed to provide students with a broad understanding of information technology and the environments in which they operate. This qualification equips students with the essential knowledge and skills to pursue further academic qualifications or embark on an administrative, managerial, or commercial career within the IT sector. The programme prepares candidates for roles that require a solid foundation in both the technical and business aspects of IT.

Entry Requirement

This is a stand-alone qualification, but there are specific entry requirements. Applicants must have obtained one of the following:

  • LMQ Level 3 Foundation Diploma or GCE Advanced Level qualification with 3 passes.

  • Any qualification at Level 3 or above, as recognised on the NQF or QCF of the United Kingdom, or SCQF Level 5 and 6 in Business Management or relevant national qualification awards at SCQF, or any overseas qualifications deemed by UK NARIC to be equivalent to a Level 3 qualification in the UK (or higher).

Progression

Successful completion of the LMQ Level 4 Advanced National Certificate in Information Technology opens a wide range of progression opportunities. Graduates may advance to higher-level qualifications, including the LMQ Level 5 Advanced National Diploma in Information Technology. As this qualification is at Level 4 (QCF/RQF), students are also eligible for direct entry into Year 2 of Bachelor’s degree programmes. This foundation prepares candidates for managerial, technical, or specialist roles in the IT sector.

Duration

  • This qualification is expected to be completed within a minimum of 12 months for full-time study.

  • Centres must ensure the Total Qualification Time (TQM) or National Learning Hours (NLH) requirements are met as per the qualification guidelines.

  • The programme is flexible and can be delivered through face-to-face, distance learning, lectures, tutorials, and seminars.
